Fertilizer blender trades drums for reconditioned 275s

A regional fertilizer blender was buying liquid UAN and micronutrients in 55-gallon steel drums — six drums to move the volume of one tote. Handling was slow, drum disposal was a recurring cost, and empties piled up behind the plant.

Solution

The blender standardized on reconditioned 275-gallon totes, washed and pressure-tested for agricultural liquids, delivered by the truckload through our transport network.

Result

Fewer forklift moves, no drum disposal bill, and a cleaner yard — with roughly 1,800 drums a year kept out of the waste stream and the handling labor cut to a fraction.

Challenge

A growing craft brewery needed reliable food-grade containers for liquid sugar, cleaning solution and hop extracts, but was paying new-tote prices and had nowhere to send empties except the dumpster.

Solution

We supplied documented food-grade totes (see the food-grade guide) with verified prior contents and food-grade gaskets, then set up an empty-return loop through our sell / take-back service so empties came back into reclamation.

Result

The brewery locked in documented food-grade supply at roughly half the new-tote cost, and every empty now re-enters the circular loop instead of the landfill — a story it now tells on its own sustainability page.

Chemical distributor runs a closed-loop reconditioning program

A multi-site chemical distributor was buying new totes each cycle and struggling to responsibly retire thousands of empties that had held non-hazardous industrial liquids.

Solution

We built a closed-loop program: empties collected on backhauls, then washed, pressure-tested, re-valved and re-caged through our reconditioning & recycling service and returned to the same working inventory — with compatibility verified against our chemical compatibility reference.

Result

The distributor cut container spend by nearly a third while keeping roughly 4,200 totes in rotation each year — avoiding an estimated 420,000 lbs of virgin HDPE and the emissions tied to making it.

A municipal water-treatment plant needed a clean, consistent interior for treatment chemicals like sodium hypochlorite and polymer, but wanted to avoid the cost and carbon of buying all-new totes on a public budget.

Solution

The plant standardized on rebottled totes from our reconditioned line — a brand-new HDPE bottle in a reclaimed steel cage — giving a factory-fresh interior with vented caps and matched gaskets, spec'd with help from our buying guide.
