RECLAIMIBC TOTE SERVICES
Our Story

From a few pallets of empties to a nationwide reclaim hub.

IBC Tote Recycling Services started in 2009 in Peoria, Illinois with a simple hunch: a used IBC tote, cleaned and inspected properly, is as good as new for the vast majority of jobs — and a fraction of the cost and carbon. Fifteen-plus years later, that hunch has grown into a coast-to-coast circular-economy business for 275 and 330 gallon tanks.
The short answer

We're a Peoria, Illinois company founded in 2009 that buys, sells, reconditions, recycles, rebottles, and transports used IBC totes nationwide. What began as reselling empty tanks is now a closed-loop reclaim hub that keeps roughly 99% of every tote out of the landfill.

Our mission

Keep every tote working for as long as physically possible.

Bulk-liquid packaging is one of the easiest wins in industrial sustainability — and one of the most overlooked. A single IBC tote is engineered to be filled, emptied, and refilled many times over. Yet far too many are used once and abandoned.

Our mission is to close that loop: to make reusing a tote easier, cheaper, and faster than buying new — so the sustainable choice becomes the default choice. Every tank we recondition, rebottle, or upcycle is a bottle that never had to be molded from virgin resin. Explore what that adds up to on our impact page.

Reuse-first philosophy

Recycling is good. Reuse is better. We built a company on the difference.

Most of the world treats a used tote as a recycling problem. We treat it as a reuse opportunity first. Reconditioning a tank for another service life avoids the energy and virgin HDPE of remanufacturing entirely — a bigger environmental win than recycling, because nothing has to be re-melted. Only when a bottle truly can't be reused do we granulate its plastic and bale its steel cage. That order — reuse, repurpose, recycle, dispose — governs everything we do.

What we stand for

Four values, every yard, every tote.

These aren't posters on a break-room wall. They're the rules we grade, price, and haul by.

Reuse first

The highest gallon is the one you never remake

We put reconditioning ahead of recycling, and recycling ahead of the landfill. Every decision starts with the question: can this tote serve one more life before we melt anything down?

Straight grading

No mystery tanks, ever

Every unit ships with its grade, wash level, last-contained product, cage type, and UN rating stated up front. Honest grading is how a used-goods business earns repeat customers.

Closed loop

We buy back what we sell

Because we buy, sell, recondition, recycle, and haul, a tote can enter and leave our yard a dozen times. That loop is the whole point — and the reason our diversion rate stays near 99%.

Planet-forward

Sustainability that shows up in the P&L

Buying used isn't just greener — it's cheaper. When the low-carbon choice is also the low-cost choice, doing right by the planet stops being a trade-off and starts being obvious.

  1. 2009A few pallets of empties

Founded in Peoria, Illinois, we started by reselling a handful of pallets of empty 275 and 330 gallon totes to local manufacturers and farmers — proving that a used tank could be as good as new for most jobs.

  2. 2013The reconditioning line goes in

Demand for clean, ready-to-fill tanks outpaced what we could source, so we built our own reconditioning line: triple-rinse and hot-wash bays, pressure-testing, re-valving, and re-caging under one roof.

  3. 2017Transport becomes ours

Freight was the bottleneck for buyers and sellers alike, so we added dedicated transport and logistics — palletized LTL and full-truckload lanes that move totes both directions across the country.

  4. 2021Rebottling and upcycling

We began pairing brand-new HDPE bottles with reclaimed steel cages for food-grade buyers, and launched an upcycled line — rain barrels, planters, and compost bins built from retired bottles.

  5. 2024A full closed-loop reclaim hub

Today we operate as a nationwide closed-loop hub: buying empties, reconditioning and rebottling, granulating end-of-life HDPE, baling steel, and hauling it all — keeping roughly 99% of every unit in circulation.

Why Peoria

Dead center of the country — on purpose.

Peoria, Illinois sits at the crossroads of the American interior, within a day's drive of Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, and the Iowa and Missouri ag belts. For a business whose product is heavy, bulky, and shipped both directions, that central logistics position keeps freight lanes short, costs down, and carbon per mile low.

It also puts us in the middle of the manufacturers, farmers, breweries, and chemical blenders who generate and consume the most totes. We can pick up your empties and deliver your next load without crossing the continent to do it. See how to reach us.
