Food-grade IBC totes for food & beverage.

When your product ends up on a plate or in a glass, the tote it moved through is part of your food-safety chain. We supply food-grade, reconditioned, and new / rebottled IBC totes for juice concentrate, sweeteners, edible oils, vinegar, dairy, and sauces — each with prior-contents documentation your quality team can rely on.
The short answer

Use only food-grade or rebottled totes for anything ingested. That means an FDA-compliant HDPE bottle with a documented food-safe history and food-safe EPDM or Viton gaskets. For the strictest products — dairy, ready-to-drink — many producers prefer new or rebottled totes with a clean bottle history. Every unit ships with prior-contents, wash-level, and UN/DOT details.

Answer first

Food grade is a history and a materials question, not a cleanliness question. A tote can be spotless and still be wrong if it once held an industrial product. That's why we never sell mystery totes into food service: the last-contained product, wash level, and fitting materials are documented on every unit, so your HACCP and audit records hold up. Read the food-grade guide and the grades guide.

What producers move

Bulk edibles that ride in totes.

Beverage

Juice concentrate

Ship and store concentrate by the pallet, then dilute and bottle on your line. Food-grade totes keep the flavor and safety profile intact.

Sweeteners

Sugar syrups & sweeteners

High-fructose syrup, liquid sugar, honey, and molasses move cleanly in food-grade totes with EPDM gaskets and full prior-contents records.

Oils

Edible oils

Canola, soybean, olive, and specialty oils are typically paired with Viton fittings for better resistance to fats and prolonged contact.

Acids

Vinegar

Acetic products call for chemically compatible gaskets — usually Viton — and a documented food-grade bottle to protect flavor and integrity.

Dairy

Dairy & dairy bases

Milk, cream, and dairy bases demand the strictest sanitation and often new or rebottled totes with a clean, verifiable bottle history.

Prepared

Sauces & condiments

Tomato base, brines, dressings, and sauce concentrates move in food-grade totes matched to their acidity and fat content.

Sanitation & fittings

Clean history, right elastomer.

Our line triple-rinses, runs an intensified hot-wash designed for edible contact, and pressure-tests each vessel before it re-enters food service. Anything with residue, staining, or odor is rebottled or recycled instead of resold.

Match the gasket to the product: EPDM for water, dairy, and aqueous products; Viton for edible oils, vinegar, and fatty or acidic products. We fit either and can supply spare valves and caps.

Before you fill

A compliance-minded checklist.

  1. Confirm prior contents in writing

Verify the last-contained product was food-safe and file the documentation with your quality records. No documentation, no food service.

  2. Verify the wash and sanitation level

Match the wash method — hot-washed for edible contact — to your product and your standard operating procedures.

  3. Select the right elastomer

EPDM or Viton gaskets should suit your product chemistry, contact time, and temperature to avoid taint or degradation.

  4. Check the UN/DOT rating for transport

If you ship filled totes, confirm the stamped rating supports your freight so you stay compliant on the road.

Questions

Food & beverage IBC tote FAQ.

All industries →
What makes an IBC tote food grade?
A food-grade IBC tote has an FDA-compliant HDPE bottle that has only ever held food-safe contents, ships with prior-contents documentation, and uses food-safe valve and gasket materials such as EPDM. Grade is about history and materials, not just cleanliness — a spotless tote that once held an industrial chemical is still not food-grade.
Should I buy new, reconditioned, or rebottled totes for edible products?
For the strictest applications — dairy, ready-to-drink beverages, infant-facing products — many producers choose new or rebottled totes, which give a virgin HDPE bottle with a clean history on a reused steel cage. For concentrates, sweeteners, and oils, a documented food-grade reconditioned tote is often ideal. We can supply new, reconditioned, or rebottled to your compliance needs.
Why does prior-contents documentation matter so much?
It's the backbone of food safety and traceability. Documentation confirms the last-contained product was food-safe, supports your HACCP and audit records, and protects you from allergen or contamination cross-over. We state prior contents, wash level, and UN/DOT rating on every food-grade tote so your quality team can sign off.
What valve and gasket materials are best for food and beverage?
EPDM gaskets are the common food-safe default and handle water, dairy, and many aqueous products well. Viton is chosen for edible oils, vinegar, and more aggressive or fatty products where it offers better chemical resistance. Match the elastomer to your specific product — we can fit either on request.
How are food-grade totes sanitized between uses?
Our reconditioning line triple-rinses, then runs an intensified hot-wash cycle designed to meet edible-contact standards, and pressure-tests each vessel before it re-enters food service. Totes that show residue, staining, or odor are rebottled or recycled rather than resold for food use.
